Brio Brass 4 Way Toggle Switch

The Brio 4 Way Toggle Switch is the toggle for lights you control from three or more places: a landing with three doors, a long hall, a large room with several ways in. It sits between two 3 way switches and gives every location the same knurled brass toggle and the same solid brass plate. Brushed Brass, Aged Brass or Matte Black with Brass, on plates of one to five positions.

Sizes

Vertical mounting centers 3.3 in (8.4 cm). Each position fits a standard US single gang box; for two gang plates and larger, match the box to the plate.

Options and prices

Replaces an existing US standard 4 way switch in about five minutes. A 4 way circuit carries two pairs of traveler wires, so have a licensed electrician fit it if you are not comfortable with wiring.

1. Turn off the power. Switch off the circuit at the breaker or fuse box before you touch anything.
2. Remove the old cover plate. Take out the screws holding the existing plate, lift it away and set it aside.
3. Take out the old switch. Unscrew the old switch from the electrical box and ease it forward so you can reach the wiring.
4. Disconnect the wires. Free the wires from the old switch. If they are wrapped around screws, loosen the screws. If they are pushed into holes at the back, cut them and strip the ends with a wire stripper.
5. Connect the wires to the Brio switch. Black (live) to the brass or black screw, white (neutral) to the silver screw if your switch calls for it, green or bare copper to the green ground screw. Tighten each connection firmly.
6. Secure the new switch. Fold the wires back into the box, line up the switch and fasten it with the screws supplied.
7. Fit the brass plate. Set the Brio plate over the module and tighten the two face screws with a flathead screwdriver.
8. Turn the power back on. Reset the breaker or fuse at the panel.
9. Test it. Flip the toggle up and down. The light should switch cleanly on and off.
